After a fire destroyed Rescar’s DuBois, PA railcar repair facility in July of 2008, the company turned to KTH to help rebuild and modernize the site. Originally opened in 1977, this facility was one of Rescar’s oldest and most critical, serving as a major railcar repair shop. The reconstruction included new cleaning and coatings departments, outfitted with state-of-the-art technology to meet environmental, safety, and productivity standards. Remarkably, the 107,000 square foot facility, requiring 25 truckloads of structural steel and 6,500 cubic yards of concrete, reached substantial completion in just six months. This rapid timeline not only kept the business running but also restored jobs for over 100 displaced workers, revitalizing a key industry in the area.
