Project Description
The new Punxsutawney Intermodal Bus Terminal was carefully designed to fit within the historic district of downtown Punxsutawney while providing a state-of-the-art transit hub. Approved by the State Historical & Museum Commission, the 16,000-square-foot facility features concrete and steel construction with energy-efficient materials. It accommodates buses of all sizes and includes essential amenities such as ticketing areas, administrative offices, passenger facilities, and dedicated bus storage. This project enhances public transportation in the region while preserving the historic character of the downtown area.
Punxsutawney is best known for its annual Groundhog Day celebration featuring Punxsutawney Phil, a tradition dating back to 1887.
The terminal's design aligns with the historic district’s architectural style, ensuring it complements the town's rich heritage.
Punxsutawney was once a major center for coal mining and rail transportation, making this modern transit hub a nod to its transportation-driven past.
