The West Wing Annex, a central element of the system’s recent $180 million Master
Facilities Plan, epitomizes architectural excellence at Penn Highlands. With five stories,
the addition provides the capability for service expansion by pairing similar departments
in the addition with their respective units in the existing building. The first floor creates a
retail dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff. The second floor creates an
administrative hub and physicians’ lounge. The third floor holds a shell space for future
expansion of the Maternal and Pediatric Center. The fourth floor hosts operating rooms
for same-day surgery, and the fifth floor houses advanced cardiac services ranging from
outpatient stress testing to a new Cardiac Cath Lab to perform Transaortic Valve
Replacements.
