For more than seven decades, Holbrook Indian School (HIS) has stood as a place of stability, growth, and care for Native American children and youth. As a 1st–12th grade boarding academy located in Holbrook, Arizona, HIS offers more than just academics—it provides a safe, nurturing environment for students to live, learn, and thrive. Partially funded by the Pacific Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the school has long served as a trusted refuge and launching pad for generations of Native families.
Now, with the completion of a new 22,500-square-foot Gymnasium and Student & Family Life Center, HIS has taken a major step forward in its mission to support the whole student—physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
KTH is proud to have partnered with Holbrook Indian School in developing a long-range Campus Master Plan and bringing this key facility to life. Designed as a one-story tilt-up concrete structure with a steel beam roof, the new building is more than just a gym—it serves as a central hub for community, wellness, and connection.
The new Life Center is surrounded by classrooms, a modern cafeteria, and a range of student support services. It offers a flexible space for physical education, school assemblies, family gatherings, and cultural events—creating new opportunities for students to grow not only as learners, but as confident young people rooted in both tradition and possibility.
Seeing this project come to life has been a deeply rewarding experience for our team. It’s a space built to last—but more importantly, it’s built to uplift. We are honored to support HIS in its mission to empower Native youth, and we’re excited to see how this facility will shape lives for years to come.
